AfterNight 1.0.0

64-bit builds for Windows 10/11 and Linux (x86-64 with AVX2). Each package bundles Qt, the Python runtime for extensions and the offline user guide, so it works at the telescope without a connection.

Windows

  1. Download the installer and run it. The standard installer needs administrator rights; the per-user installer does not.
  2. The installer adds AfterNight and AfterNightCLI to the Start menu.
  3. Start AfterNight; the dashboard opens with Open image, New sequence and Image integration.

Linux

  1. Download the AppImage, make it executable (chmod +x AfterNight-*.AppImage) and run it.
  2. The AppImage needs FUSE 2; without it, run it with --appimage-extract-and-run.
  3. Everything is inside the file: Qt, the Python runtime, the extension hosts and the user guide.

From source

  1. Clone the repository with its submodules.
  2. Run the platform build scripts in order: generate projects, install dependencies, build third-party libraries, build, deploy.
  3. The contributor guide in the repository states the requirements: C++20, Qt 6.10, Premake5, MSVC on Windows or Clang on Linux.

System requirements

A 64-bit x86 processor with AVX2. Windows 10 or 11, or a Linux distribution that can run an AppImage. Memory and disk depend on your frames: a decoded image is width × height × channels × bytes per sample, and a stacking run holds several of them. The user guide's system requirements page has the planning guidance and the per-platform notes.
